In Pokémon Sun and Moon, gyms do not exist and were replaced by The Island Challenge Trials (series of small quests set off by the Trial Captains such as finding items/Pokémon, taking pictures of Pokémon with the Poké Finder, and so on), Totem Pokémon (battling bigger and more powerful versions of certain Pokémon, which can summon ally Pokémon to aid them) and the Grand Trials (where you have to battle the Kahuna of that specific island in order to get to the next one).That being said, the Kahunas are the closest thing we have to the Gym Leaders, them being:Hala (Melemele Island);Olivia (Akala Island);Unkown (Ula'Ula Island);Unkown (Poni Island).
