== == About 95 percent of U.S. colleges and universities accept GED graduates in the same manner as high school graduates. GED graduates are also eligible for most federal financial aid if they meet the program's other criteria. After earning your GED credential, sign up to take the ACT and/or the SAT. The colleges to which you apply may also require you to take placement or achievement tests so that they can determine whether you need additional coursework.

Source: Acenet.edu For help on GED test materials, GED practice test, GED testing location, fees, and information you need visit the official GED Testing Service website at www.acenet.edu for more information or call 1-800-62-MYGED (1-800-626-9433) to find your local GED Testing Center. The center can tell you: * Whether you can take the GED Tests * Where to find the Official GED Practice Tests * Where to find a GED instructional program * How much it costs to take the tests * When the tests are given * Other useful information From other contributors: * Well, From my experience I know that most Community/2-year Colleges will accept a G.E.D. but they might make you take a couple of proficiency exams. I don't know of any 4 year colleges that take G.E.D's. So what you should do is get accepted to a 2 year C.C. and transfer after a semester or a year of studies. That's how you will get around the problem of having a G.E.D and not being able to get into a 4 year school. * one school I am trying to get into ASU will take a student that passes his or her GED test and no SAT or ACT test is required ASU Admission reply

Home School students who are coming in as a freshman need to have admissible ACT or SAT test scores. They do not come in with a GPA. All classes taken in home school are entered as P for pass. The home school transcript is used to meet the competency requirements.

If a student takes the GED instead of graduating, or before he/she graduates from home school and receives a 500 or higher he is no longer considered a home school student and is automatically admitted

* You'll have to contact the particular college you want to go to. Most all colleges do take a GED

* Send an application to a college that accepts the GED. You might want to try a community college first. Most colleges have websites where you can find out about their admissions requirements and how to apply.
You would need to enter a community college, then transfer into a university when you get your associates degree

The majority of colleges will accept a GED. The best way to find out which ones will is to go to each schools website and look at entrance requirements. There is no list that includes the schools that will take the GED, but many of the schools that will not accept it are the more elite colleges and universities like Stanford and Dartmouth.

I've not heard of any that don't accept a GED, especially since you first have to get a 4 years B.S. pre-med degree before going to medical school. As long as you at least have your GED, and do well on the college entrance exam, that's what determines your getting into a college.
