No one really knows. in the last episode Buffy tells angel that she isn't ready for a relationship because she is the slayer but when she becomes 'cookie Buffy' then maybe she will be ready, but for now she is jusy cookie dough. so really their future is up to whether Buffy bakes and gets back together with angel. use your imagination.
Well, the "Twilight" and "Last Gleaming" comic book arcs defintely proved they still love each other, but after Giles got his neck broken by 'Angel'(possessed by Twilight), the question now is if Buffy still loves him after that or if she can at least forgive him. They may still get back together someday, but not anytime soon after that trainwreck. I guess we will have to wait and see, but hope for the best. It was also recently found out in Season 9 that Buffy is pregnant and its very possible he could be the father(as he was the last known guy she was with that way.)
