What about nuclear family?

Answer:

"Nuclear family" is a metaphor. The nucleus of an atom is the center part. The family is the center of society. But -- and this is the part that people forget sometimes -- without the surrounding electrons, a nucleus is unstable. A "nuclear family" wouldn't survive very long without all kinds of other families around them.

A nuclear family is a family that consists of a mom, dad and one or more children. It's health, not science.
