This book talks about taming a shrew in which this case kate. The father says that bianca can only get married if kate gets married first, so to make it so bianca can get married petruchio forces kate to marry him and she ends up kinda liking him.
In order to arrange the marriage of his younger daughter, Bianca, to one of a number of wealthy suitors, Baptista must first find a husband for his shrewish elder daughter, Katherina. In need of money, Petruchio is looking to marry a wealthy bride. Hilarity ensues.
The Taming of the Shrew is about a man with two daughters, the younger of whom, Bianca, everyone wants to marry, but the elder of whom, Kate or Katharine, is bossy and bad-tempered. Nobody wants to marry Kate but her father wants her to get a husband and so says that nobody can marry Bianca until Kate is married. Some of Bianca's suitors find a man, Petruchio, who is looking for a wife and doesn't care if she is badly behaved, and point him in the direction of Kate. He gets permission to marry her, and does, but is so much more badly behaved than Kate that Kate must learn to curb her tongue if she hopes to have any peace. This she does, and surprises everyone by ending up a more obedient wife than Bianca or anyone else.
This play is very controversial and has been produced both in a way showing that the proper place for a woman is under her husband's thumb and it is OK to beat her into submission, and in a way showing that a man attempting to subdue his wife is abusive and that a strong woman would never become as submissive as Kate appears to be. The best productions find a middle road, where Kate learns that her behaviour is socially unacceptable, and that one must, to get what one wants in the world, trim one's actions to social expectations. In this kind of reading, Kate's transformation actually liberates her from the social stigma which her wilful behaviour had brought her, by showing her how she can separate her real thoughts and feelings from those she expresses.
Kate and Petruchio return to Petruchio's house from Padua in Act IV Scene 1. They meet nobody on the way. On their return to Padua, to attend Bianca's wedding, in Act IV Scene 5, they meet up with Lucentio's father Vincentio who was not apparently invited to the wedding, notwithstanding that he is the father of the groom.
