Some factors that may or may not affect the performance of each player both positively and negatively in sports are: fatigue, lack of endurance, weariness, physical build, oxygen intake, how they breathe, awareness, peripheral vision, tactics, and hydration. Fatigue. Muscles will get tired after a while of using them actively. And because of this, many players, after playing for a while at a sport or game, will begin to move slower and sluggishly, because their muscles are wearing down. Lack of endurance.Endurance is a good quality to have when doing physical sports that require you to move quickly to one place or another in a short space of time. If you have to do this often in a sport, then your endurance must be pretty good. Without good endurance, a player may tire very quickly and easily and will not be able to move or perform very well as a result. Weariness. Weariness is of a mental condition where the mind begins to feel tired (and the body will soon follow in this feeling) and will seem to "work slower". At this stage for an athlete, they will become less aware and will begin to tire. Their eyes are affected by this too so they might not be able to see the ball or what is going on very well because their mind can't focus. Physical build. Everyone's physical build is different, but the better and more "fit" the shape of your body is, the better you will be able to perform. It's very much the same as endurance. Oxygen intake. Muscles need oxygen in order to work better and depending on how much oxygen an athlete takes in with every breath, the physical performance will be worse or much better. Working on breathing and breath control can help a lot - the most common method is to take in less air than you are letting out. Inhaling in through the nose and exhaling through the mouth is a very effective way. Tactics. A player with good tactics may prove even more valuable than a player with a good athletic build. For instance - in soccer, if everyone is being covered, then it's pretty logical that you move so you're open for a pass. Another example could be that you do what your opponent doesn't expect, whether if it's to pass to another player rather than score or score, rather than pass. Hydration. This is the most important one - keeping your body hydrated will help you keep healthy. When we exercise, we let out more liquid in our body than we know - for instance, sweat. This is so that our bodies don't overheat, seeing as sweat cools down the body. Without sweat, we would burn up and then die because the temperature inside our bodies are too high. If we keep drinking regular cups of water while we exercise, we can keep this from happening.

Physical exertion can affect athletic performance positively or negatively.

In some cases, physical exertion can act as a practice run or warm up before athletic performance. This allows the muscles to perform well later. (positive)

In other cases, physical exertion can take away energy and leave one with less energy for athletic performance. This can decrease the level of performance in an athlete. (negative)
