Fillies become sexually mature around 18 months of age, however they're still growing at this age so if you breed her its might effect her growth. Most wait until the filly is 4 so she will foal near 5 years of age.
Colts and fillies can become sexually mature between 1.5 and 2 years of age, so you should separate your horses when they are 1.5 years of age. Mares can be bred at this age, although it is not advised as the mare is still growing and indeed may not have the knowledge to look after a foal after only being in the world for a couple of years, and only just becoming an adult herself. I would say the minimum age for a mare to breed would be around 4 years of age.
Some fillies become pregnant as yearlings, and have the foals as 2 year olds, but the Ideal time to breed a mare for the first time is at 4 years old, so you do not stunt the mare's growth, and give the foal a healthy start in life. Ideal age for *maiden mares is between 4 and 8 years. * Maiden mares are mares who have never foaled. There are different schools of thought here. Some breeders put fillys in their broodmare bands as early as2 1/2 or 3 others wait until the filly/mare is 4 or older. Since a mare is technically not mature until it turns 5 the school of thought with breeding 4 year olds is often that the mare will be "adult" by the time she foals.
Mares become sexually active at around 18 months of age and can foal by the time they are two years old. However, for the health of the horse, it is recommended to wait until the mare is three to four years old.
It really depends on the health/condition of the mare and how many foals she has had. I know of older mares 16-17 foaling, but were in good health/condition and hadn't foaled in over 3 years. If she has been a baby-maker, I'd give her a break.
i believe that as a two year old a healthy mare can get pregnent. altho it is probably better for the mare to wait until she is four
Mares reach sexual maturitiy at the age of 2, but are not usually bred from until they are 3.
A stud fee
a filly becomes a mare at 4 because at that age she is ready to carry a colt. A colt becomes a stud at 4 if left intact because he is then ready to breed a mare, Paige
Colts are physically able to impregnate mares about the age of two, but breeding at this age is unheard of because the colt is still a baby himself. Even in the wild, there's never an instance where a stallion will breed before the age of about five or six. * the 5 or 6 thing isn't completely true! i breed miniatures and i know people who breed full sized horses and we both have had very succesfull breedings from a 3 year old stud! in fact I'm breeding a 3 year old again right now!
mare Mare=Female Stallion=breedable male horse (stud) gelding= male horse that is fixed
The overall term for a female horse is a mare but if this horse/pony is very young its refered to as a filly or a foal. A male horse/pony is a stallion and when its young a foal however, when it is 2 years old or younger it might be called a stud. I'm not sure about the age limit of a stud but I'm sure I'm close!
She will breed with the stud that has fought and won a fight against another stud,
yea. most minis have sheltland in them
If I am correct, it means once you breed your mare tosomeone elses stud they say that if your mare doesn't have the foal (miscarriages or something) that you don't have to pay the fee for breeding to the stud.

Both mare and stud will lose 25% energy when breeding.
stud farms, or you can put a stallion and a mare together at your place, providing they're in heat.
Part bred Arab or Arab X Morab
No. Bred mares are not receptive to the stallion because they are bred, not in heat.
From a stud.
A stud fee
Neither. Most horses don't have any money. The mare owner pays the stud fee. That's the whole point. They pay the stud fee and the next year they get a baby.
They have a foal.
