There is no legal age for babysitting, however as I have found from searching it seems that most people have not found kids to be mature enough until they are at least over twelve. This would probably be wise, considering that you will want the people you are babysitting for to know that you are old enough in their minds. Also, if something bad happens when you are left alone under the age of 12, it could be considered your parents fault, so I would wait until you are over 12 to babysit.
This is what I found typed in another area:
There is no age specified by law that a child can be left alone in North Carolina. Parents and caretakers must look at the child's maturity, the safety of the community, and access to emergency assistance. A child may be mature enough to stay alone, but not to care for younger siblings.
I would say 12 or 13 years old. It's 12 in some states.
I think it's the parents desicion how old hey hould be :>
The juvenile code for North Carolina does not list an age. The fire code, however, states no child under the age of eight can be left alone due to fire hazards.
The minimum age for non-farming work in NC is 14. So 14 years old.

Age 18.
13 is the legal age for a child to be left alone in the US
There are no legal laws about the age a child may be left alone but a child who is left alone too young could leave the parent liable for negligence or child abuse. A general rule of thumb would be if the child can cook for him/herself or call emergency services.

the legal age is 12 to be left alone with siblings. Keep in mind though that even at 12 some children arnt mature enough to be left alone even without having to care for siblings as well.
There is currently not a law that specifies the age a child has to be to stay home alone overnight. It is left up to the parents to decide if their child is mature enough to handle it.
