Best Answer

Roosters normally start to attempt to mate at about 8 months and older. The first few try's are usually pretty funny and without results. They quickly get the balance needed and the special technique required for success.

Any age after 5-6 months.

Another answer

Five to seven months depending on the breed and health of the birds. I don't suggest hatching until nine months of age.

A cockerel will start to practice crowing at about 5 months old and soon after exhibit signs of aggression and increased curiosity when perceived danger exists. These are all characteristics of the male chicken leading to sexual maturity. The actual mounting of a hen may take place as soon as 7 to as late as 10 months of age.

You can eat a rooster when it is still a baby chick or you can wait until it has grown to full size. Waiting to long the meat will become tougher but it can still be eaten.
