All vegetation and all living organisms are made up of cells. Cells have proteins as a major constituent (others constituents include nucleic acids, saccharides, lipids, and thousands of other biochemicals in lesser quantities). Proteins are simply chains of amino acids that are folded together to serve some specific function.
