Homogeneous means materials that consist of only one phase like water, salt, white sugar, plastic cup and milk . Heterogeneous means materials that consist of two phases like Orange Juice with pulps, or a concrete sidewalk.

as it is known that homogeneous substance is a substance that has uniform characteristics and structure, thus we can say that following are the homogeneous substances:

  1. pure water
  2. kerosene oil
  3. diesel
  4. all the gases having particular composition, including oxygen, CO, etc.

the components of a homogeneous substance cannot be separated by either of physical and chemical methods.

heterogeneous substance is a substance that has characteristics reverse to that of homogeneous substance. it includes:

  1. mixture of sand and water
  2. mixture of sugar and sand ,etc.
