Think for a minute. If you were an animal, (even though we kinda already are) would you have a brain? Of course! All animals have brains, and they are all smart in their own ways, even if you think they are acting stupid.

The answer posted above is not true. There are animals without brains. Single-celled animals such as paramecium and amoeba do not have brains. Also corals, jellyfish starfish, sea urchins, sand dollars, and more do not have brains. So the answer to your question would be that most animals have brains, but there are definitely some animals that do not.

Humans. You have a second brain in your bowel, according to Michael Gershon, M.D., author of The Second Brain (HarperCollins, 1999), and a neurobiologist at New York's Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Gershon recently explained to PT how an independent network of over 100 billion neurons in the gut not only signals our bodies to stress but causes illness.

On average, yes, although an African Gray Parrot is certainly much smarter than a shrew.

That would depend on the animal. Practially all vertebrates have brains, with mammals' and perhaps birds' being the most complex of all. For invertebrates, it depends on the species. Arthropods and cephalopods tend to have brains. Sponges have no neurons whatsoever.
