Macrolide group of antibiotics can be taken if patient is allergic to penicillin. They have the same spectrum as that of penicillin. That is gram positive and negative cocci and gram positive bacilli. They are Erythromycin, Roxithromycin, Clarithromycin and Azithromycin.

∙ 14y agoSome alternatives to penicillin are:ciprofloxacin (Cipro), levofloxacin (Levaquin) and the newer drugs moxifloxacin (Avelox) and gatifloxacin (Tequin)....macrolides erythromycin (E-mycin), clarithromycin (Biaxin) and azithromycin (Zithromax).
