It was the longest and mosst severe economic depression ever experienced by the western world and it began in the us soon after the ny stock market crash of 1929.
1)The country's productivity declined harshly.
2)1 out of every 5 people were unemployed.
3)People's wages barely gave them enough to buy really basic foods, many times
the wages wouldn't be enough for this.
4) The President was Herbert Hoover a Republican

The US economy started coming out of it due to their involvement in WWII when they started rapidly manufacturing weapons for their armed forces.
