Five limiting factors to natural populations are contained within density dependant and density independent factors. Density dependant factors that limit natural population growth are availability of food, shelter, mates, space, and good health. Density independent factors that limit natural population growth are earthquakes, volcanoes, drought, pest infestation, or floods. In both cases, the environment must be right for natural populations to flourish.
