Three of Brazil's most famous landforms are the Amazon Rainforest, the Amazon River, and Iguaçu Falls.

Sixty percent of the Amazon Rainforest ['Floresta Amazonia'] is within Brazil's borders. The Amazon Rainforest is the largest and most biologically diverse rainforest in the world.

Most of the Amazon River ['Rio Amazonas'] is in Brazil. The Amazon River has the world's largest drainage basin. Generally it's considered the world's second longest river, after the Nile. But Brazilian scientists dispute this. According to their findings, the Amazon is 65 miles [105 kilometers] longer than the Nile.

Brazil shares Iguaçu Falls ['Cataratas do Iguaçu'] with Argentina. It's one of the world's largest waterfalls. There are 275 falls along 1.67 miles [2.7 kilometers] of the Iguaçu River. The height of the longest drop is 269 feet [82 meters] at the Devil's Throat ['Garganta do Diablo'].

The Devil's Throat marks the border between Argentina and Brazil. Many rare and endangered species, such as the giant anteater and the giant otter, are found there. It's been a Natural World Heritage Site since 1986.

The high points of the Brazilian relief (which, in general, is marked by low altitudes) are: Pico da Neblina (2993.78 meters in altitude) and Peak March 31 (with an altitude of 2972.66 m.) .

The low altitude of the relief to Brazil because Brazilians are being located on a major tectonic plate where there is no conflict with other cards, which give rise to the so-called modern folding that result from the movement of a collision between plates, where one pushes the other movement called convergent.

Besides watersheds of the Orinoco river basin (Venezuela) and Amazon (tributaries of the left margin to the north), serve as the border between Brazil and its neighbors to the north, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.

The Brazilian relief comes in:

* Plateau - areas with high and flattened, marked by cliffs where the process of wear is greater than the accumulation of sediments.

* Plains - relatively flat surfaces, where the process of sedimentation is higher than the wear.

* Absolute Depression - a region that lies below sea level.

* Relative Depression - is above the sea level. The peripheral Paulo, for example, depression is a relative.

* Mountains - natural elevations of the relief and can have various origins, such as faults or folds.
