Mormons are allowed to eat and drink whatevery they want. It is more of a standard in our church to follow -- mainly not drinking or doing drugs. it is a personal choice for you.
Another answer:
Well, technically, we are allowed to drink or eat anything. But, we have a standard called the Word of Wisdom that we follow. It tells us that we should not drink tea or coffee, or any alcoholic drinks. We should not use tobacco. But, we should eat lots of grains, fruits and vegetables, and herbs. We should not eat meat excessively. We have these standards because this is what is best for our selves and our bodies. Tea (from the tea plant-not herb tea), coffee, alcohol and tobacco are addictive and do no good for us. If you think about it, they say that 1 small glass of red wine before bed every day is very healthy, but you can get all the same nutrients (and better because you are skipping the alcohol) from just eating grapes. And, it is hard to stop at 1 small glass of wine. Tobacco does nothing good. You have serious health issues, your appearance is destroyed, and you are addicted to it. Why subject your self to this? Eating healthy gives you advantages over others. You become more energized, more healthy, you do better in school, and you are overall more happy.
We follow these standards because we value our bodies as gifts from God, so we want to take care of them. We know that we are given great blessings from obeying the Word of Wisdom and that this is one of the ways that we will be happiest.
