the term arm refers specifically to the segment between the shoulder and the elbow. The segment between the elbow and wrist is the forearm. However, in colloquial speech the term armoften refers to the entire upper limb from shoulder to wrist.

The upper part of the upper limb is called the arm. Technically the lower part of the upper limb is called the forearm. And you might have guessed that what people call the arm (i.e. from the shoulder to the hand) is actually called the upper limb.

The upper potion of the arm (from the shoulder to the elbow) is called the humerous.
