Some additional information...

So for the past 5 or 6 months I have been suffering with terrible anxiety, guilt, and compulsive feelings ever day, sometimes multiple times a day lasting for hours. I have been seeing a therapist, but we are still in the early staged (about 5 or 6 sessions in) so we are still working on the issues. My doctor prescribed me I believe 10mg of Paxil a day and 0.5mg of Xanax to take when as needed. I was traveling a lot last week which causes anxiety and I had one panic/anxiety attach during the week so I've taken Xanax 5 times. It did help take the edge off, but I don't plan on taking it again unless it gets really bad. I started taking the Paxil last Sunday before I go to be. Obviously I haven't really felt anything yet due to the fact that it can take about 4-6 weeks to start working. I have been feeling more tired this week, but that could be due to all the traveling and only getting 5-6 hours of sleep most nights. Anyway, on to my question. I read the basic side effects of both Paxil and Xanax and they are scary enough. However, I am pretty scared of the weight gain. I'm find with gaining a little weight, but I am more concerned about the reason of the weight gain. Some sites claim it just because people feel less anxious and eat more because they get their appetite back. Others claim it causes cravings so people eat more junk food. Again, if that is the issue I'm not super concerned there. Both of those are controllable. My big concern is that a lot of articles claim it could be causing your body to change. 1. It claims it could be slowing down your metabolism causing you to gain weight. This is a big concern. Not so much for the short term, but for the long term. I don't plan on taking this stuff forever so when I come off of it is my metabolism always going to be slow or will it rebound. 2. I've read that Paxil may lower your testosterone and increase cortisol and prolactin, while also increasing estrogen. All terrible things which lead to the weight gain. Again, the concern is that this will permanently affect by body. 3. The final big concern is that a lot of articles talk about how it messes with your thyroid and it's enzymes and hormone production. Especially with the conversion of T4 and T3. Leading to weight gain and over hormone imbalance. I already eat a healthy diet (maybe one cheat meal a week to every two weeks), I work out 6 days a week for about an hour to an hour and a half and usually do some sort of physical activity on the 7th day along with other physical activity (mostly walking) throughout the week. I do currently track my macros and calories with all my meals as well. I have read reviews of people who claim they haven't changed their diet and even exercised more but still couldn't lose the fat. This leads me to believe the three claims mentioned above. I know this is a lot of rambling, maybe too much, but I really wanted to get someone's feedback on this. Hopefully someone with experience or even done research in the field.
