Ok here are the disadvantages (from both stand points): If you have any tickets or accidents they will be charged on the policy and cause the persons rate to go up and possibly get terminated by the company. Also depending on your age and sex, the rates could go up too. You being a driver on someones policy put them at risk for lawsuit if you cause an accident. Now for the advantage: You being on someones policy can help your rates when you decide to get your own insurance, companies look at prior insurance and people that have continuous insurance get better rates.

Yes, as long as you inform the insurance company.
um... yeah if your on your parents insurance....... i think
In the UK, yes. So long as the driver has insurance.
insurance follows the vehicle, not the driver. If you loan your vehicle to someone, you assume the risk of them having an accident. Only if there is no insurance on the vehicle would the driver's insurance become effective for the loss of a vehicle not owned by him.
Although it depends on your insurance, the driver is covered if driving with your permission.
yes
liability insurance goes with the driver, so the drivers insurance would pay for it. If the driver does not have insurance, then the owner of the car's insurance would pay if the vehicle was knowingly lent.
Always remember insurance follows the vehicle and points follow the driver. So if they get points from the ticket it will follow the driver.
What happens when an insured driver hits someone depends on the state you live in. In a no-fault state you present your claim to your insurance company for payment. In a tort state, you would sue the driver for compensation. If you have uninsured driver coverage, then your insurance company should cover you and/or your vehicle, up to a certain amount. You should check with your insurance company to be sure.
