Acrylate polymers are used for a variety of things. A couple of examples:
Plexiglas is poly(methyl methacrylate).
The sticky part of sticky notes is often a polyacrylate.
Alkyl halides such as Chlorofluorocarbons have also been widely used as refrigerants, propellants and solvents due to their low toxicity and high heat capacity.
