What are all the NHL expansion teams?

Answer:
The League has had many many expansions over the years.
There were more than 6 teams prior to World War 2, but 6 remained until the first expansion in 1967.
In 1967 the league expanded to an "East / West" conference with the original 6 going to the East, and the 6 new expansion teams to the West. This gave the expansion teams a chance to build their own rivalries, as well as be more competitive, while still having big name teams come to visit.
The original 6 expansion teams in 1967 were 1.) Pittsburgh Penguins 2.) Philadelphia Flyers 3 St. Louis Blues, Minnesota North Stars, LA Kings, California / Oakland Golden Seals
The league expanded again in 1970-71 by adding the Buffalo Sabres and Vancouver Canucks (to the East division) and moving the Blackhawks to the West. The Hawks Dominated the West for Years to come until the Flyers Bully days of 1974.
The next expansion took place in the mid 1972 when the Atlanta Flames and New York Islanders joined.
1974-75 saw Kansas City Scouts and Washington Capitals join the NHL
1976-77 California Seals move to Cleveland and become the Barons and the KC Scouts move to Denver to Become the Colorado Rockies.
1978-79 Barons go defunct and merge with the North Stars.
1979-80 Four World Hockey Association teams joined the NHL-- Edmonton Oilers, Hartford Whalers that were the New England Whalers before they were in the NHL , Quebec Nordiques and Winnipeg Jets -- merge with the NHL
