Answer
There is legally no (at least not admitted) mercy killing. If a person is extremely ill and on morphine for pain, the morphine weakens the heart muscle and the patient will eventually pass away. However, in another 10 to 15 years just like a Living Will there will be a choice for each individual and it's called, "euthanasia." This means that this individual will have the choice (only if very ill, in great pain and there is no return to a quality of life) of ending their own life. Because of religious beliefs by many there will be a political war going on over this, but, in truth, people do it to themselves more often than one can ever know.
A Living Will is one in which the person has given instruction that if they are close to death and doctors have that patient on tubes for feeding, liquids and breathing, a member of the family can stop the indignity of this procedure and allow the person to die as they so stated in their Living Will.
It is important in everyone's Will that they state if they choose to live no matter what, or to cease with artificial means of life support.
