I think, after much surfing around different webpages, the best (for guppies) in a small fishbowl is 1 male to 2-3 females...(They usually recommend 3 females)but possibly 2 males to 3 females in bout 10 -15 gallons fishbowl. Plus, for general info, 1 gallon is bout 4cups of water! -katz

By fishbowl do you mean one of those roundish bowls without filter and heat? If so you're very limited. I would only put goldfish in them because they don't need the heat and can survive in harsh conditions. I know people have bettas in bowls, but they do live longer in a proper tank.
long story short: some fish have a breathing tube that allows them to get air directly from....well, the air... this includes the betta and a lot of goldfish/carp. they do not need the " proper tank" they can live in a mud puddel and be happy, know you'r fish know thier needs.
Answer
Fish don't do well in fish bowls at all, so I have to reccomend none. It is best to get a tank. You see, in fishbowls, there is no filtration system, which means the water is stagnant. Fish need oxygen in the water, and filters provide bubbling and filtering so harmful bacteria doesn't settle. If you want a small fish display, try getting a mini aquarium. They look better and your fish will live.
Answer
Guppies do well in fish bowls - at least that's what I know from my experience with them. I had one male and one female delta guppy. The male guppy lived for well over a year and the female guppy is still living. I was puzzled about the death of the male because he was completely healthy the day before he died. Otherwise, they are very lively and adapt pretty well to the conditions of living in a bowl. Just make sure that the bowl is fairly large and be willing to clean the bowl at least once every two weeks. I also recommend that a maximum of two guppies are kept together - one male and one female. Feed them once or twice a day, and they should be just fine together.
