What are autotrophs?

What is an autotroph

An autotroph is an animal that makes its food itself.

It's an organsism that is capable of synthesizing its own food from inorganic substances using light or chemical energy.

For instance, almost any kind of plant is an autotroph because it makes its food by using the sun. (Photosynthesis.)

Green plants, algae, and certain bacteria are autotrophs.
