What are benefits of computer?

Answer

What are the benefits of a computer?

If you are a photographer, the benefits are many. Using digital image processing instead of bringing negatives to a house which develops and processes them chemically, a technique which gives the artist-photgrapher little control over exposure parameters such as contrast or color or exposure, one clearly sees the advantages are innumerable.

If you are a woman or man who owns a business, you can keep your accounts or charts in many affordable accounting programs. You can manage your inventory, correspond with others involved in your business activities, and gain the advantage of countless other writing, financial, and communication functions.

If you are a physician, X-rays, MRIs, C-T scans and other medical images are produced and stored digitally on computers. This speeds the access to a radiologist for her written report, and gives you a nearly instant report and visualization of the images.

If you are a writer, a word processing program far surpasses the typewriter for assembling books or reports. Large sections of text can be moved around in the volume, checked for proper spelling automatically, indices and pagination automatically generated, then the work is submitted to the editors or publisher without consuming paper--a valuable resource whose supply is not growing in proportion to its usage.

If you are responsible for connecting offices; for example, law firms in many cities in the U.S. and the world, you can create your own network, outside of the internet, called a LAN (local area network), so your employees will be able to instantly send documents to other offices, find files in far-away cities without asking an employee there to get it for you, and even use the network for digital telephone communication within and outside of the offices, thus saving money when the same service is compared to the price of the large telephone companies. A private and secure network, that uses internet connections, but is reserved exclusively for the use of the firm's employees and cannot be accessed by the general public.

Each and every human endeavor, in one way or another, will gain expediency in many ways.

Consider the requirements of any profession, any physical or mental activity, and apply the same principles of speed, efficiency of resources used, and many other factors, and you will see the superior advantages.

The personal computer and its simple, inexpensive networks; and, of course, the internet itself, have proven to be a social and economic revolution as significant as the previous industrial revolution; with the added benefit, one hopes, of being a vastly more humane revolution. One which does not add weight to the backs of working men and women, a new way of cleanly working, no added dirt to our atmosphere, nor unnecessary depletion of the earth's natural resources.
