Ron Wealsey is the general "best friend" type of guy. He's loyal, trustworthy, and even slightly jealous of Harry. With so many brothers, it's hard to shine out as someone with your very out contributions but he manages it. He has an irrational fear of spiders, which lends some comedic relief to the story. It's obvious he likes Hermione, even from the beginning of the books, too.
