What are common and greatest common factors?

Answer:
When you find a greatest common factor, or GCF, you find all the factors that go into a number. Lets try it with 8 and 12.
Factors of 8: 1, 8, 2, 4
Factors of 12: 1, 12, 2, 6 3, 4

The factors that were the same are the common factors. For problem, they were 1, 2, and 4. The greatest was 4. That's the GCF for that problem. Hope this helped!
