A conventional sign is the one which signifies something through the free institution. Most of them are man-made (not done by nature). Example, a flag is a conventional sign because it signifies a country. Road signs are also conventional signs (like "DETOUR" "STOP" "MEN AT WORK"). Symbols like the heart shape ( signifies love), Cross, etc. Fundamental signs and symbols in math.
