Best Answer

Basically crayons (crayolas) are made by melting a wax type supstance, mixing it with colors and a few other top secret ingredients, and pouring them into a mold. once that solidifies, they are removed from the mold, wrapped in their paper sleeve, and packed into cartons.

8, Crayola brand crayons (compare prices) were the first kids crayons ever made, invented by cousins, Edwin Binney and C. Harold Smith. The word Crayola was created by Alice Stead Binney (wife of Edwin Binney) who took the French words for chalk (craie) and oily (oleaginous) and combined them.
