∙ 11y agoInput devices specializing in direct input from a human would include keyboards for input of character symbols, mice (along with their close relatives, trackballs and graphics tablets) for input of movement, and microphones (for input of voice).
Other input devices include the ambient light sensor for automatic adjustment of screen brightness and keyboard backlight, various temperature sensors for automatic fan speed control, various voltage sensors for monitoring the power supply's health, and rotational speed sensors for monitoring the fan's correct operation. Gaming consoles also feature a variety of motion and acceleration sensors.
Modern smart phones and other forms of mobile computers often include a GPS sensor device (time and location), magnetometer (magnetic field), acceleration sensor and sensors to determine the rotation of the device relative to a normative three-dimensional space.
Less common input devices include infrared sensors for remote control functions, or specialized equipment such as computer-based implementations of oscilloscopes or logic analyzers.
Non-volatile storage devices (hard disk drives, memory card readers, etc) and networking facilities (LAN and WiFi adapters, Bluetooth adapters, etc) also provide input to the computer, but are not usually classified as input devices due to their bi-directional nature.
