The purpose of war is either to defend a nation under attack or more succinctly to MOTIVATE YOUR OPPOSITION TO GIVE UP OR CHANGE ITS MIND ABOUT THE ISSUE OR PROBLEM OR GOAL. (believe it or not OIL is the number one reason wars are fought and independence is number two)
The disadvantages of war are:
Defeat
Death of innocent people
Causing another war to start
Failure to achieve the objective of the war
Countries being taken over by other countries
Failure to achieve independence
Cost of the War both in lives and monetarily
People dying in vain
Victory without achieving original goals of the war
Starvation, disease and unnecessary destruction
Here are examples:
Vietnam War: US failed to keep the communists out of South Vietnam
Korean War: UN failed to end the war with a victory. The war is technically only in a truce state and could start up any time. The north Koreans did not get freed from communism.
World War 2: The eastern European nations were not freed and made independent because the Soviets took over their nations. The Cold War started before World War 2 ended.
World War 1: None of the original issues of World War 1 were settled, millions globally died in vain. Germany was blamed for the war when they did not start the war and the war issues had to be re fought in World War 2 when Adolf Hitler sought revenge for the punishment Germany received at the end of World War 1.
World War 1: Disease and famine resulted from this world war and WW2 as well. But a worldwide flu epidemic during World War 1 claimed as many lives as were killed from the violence of the war. Famine caused thousands in Germany and other countries to die. Another source of the food famine was cause the by the Brits preventing Germany from getting the food they needed so desperately.
Destroy nature, kills people, destroy the harmony of the country. Also peace shattered, foundations damaged, more violence, more destruction and more loss of lives. There are many more but these are just the main ones.

∙ 12y agoPeople are killed, money is wasted, and there is usually a lot of destruction that has to be rebuilt. War should be used ONLY as a last resort when everything else has failed, such as the American Revolution, the Civil War, WWII, Korean War, and Desert Storm.
