In the entertainment category-while Blackface has long since evaporated, well into the sixties there were several comedians on TV who routinely engaged in what would have to be called Spanish-bashing. it was across the board, even the Service comedies and some juvenile programs got into the act. Example the former actor Sanford (Sandy) Becker , who hosted a juvenile program used to do his personal impression(with darkened make-up ) of a character he called (K. lastima) I later found out this meant, spelled a little differently- What A Pity!) of a Latin American equivalent of say, a Johnny Carson type of talk-show host, adults thought this stuff was roaringly funny, kids just wanted to get on to the next installment of cartoons. I have nev e seen any reference to this, just wanted to point it out. He was poking fun at Spanish-Speaking people across the screen-and on a juvenile program. It would not be allowed today. Mr. Becker was Jewish.
