How a Trumpet Works

The way the trumpet works is your "buzz" travels through the tubing and makes a tone. The valves only open ports to more tubing: the third valve opens the most, the first opens a little less and the second opens the least. The more tubing there is to your horn the lower the note will be. It's the same concept as a tuba being a lower-toned instrument than a trumpet, since there is more tubing in a tuba, it will generally play lower notes than a trumpet.

Some fact about the trumpet are;

1. They have 6 and a half feet of tubing

2. There are 2-4 trumpets in a traditional orchestra

3. They are the highest instrument in the brass family

4. The roots of trumpets are in hunting horns, military bugles, and herald trumpets

*First of all, it is like the soprano of brass instruments, and most of the time has the melody :)

*There are 3 valves, and 3 slides.

*To play the trumpet you must "buzz" your lips.

*It is possible to play your trumpet without your mouthpiece and your mouthpiece without your trumpet.

*Trumpets are brass wind instruments noted for their powerful tone sounded by lip vibration against their cup-shaped mouthpiece.
They can play 45 notes. That is from low A to high G. They are played by buzzing softer and faster as well as changing the positions of the buttons.

Not sure exactly what that last answer means. The lowest natural note on a b-flat trumpet is a concert E, and the highest note depends on the player. I can play higher than a high G. I can play as high as a triple C, and depending on the mouthpiece, sometimes I can get the D or E above that, but many players can play higher than I can.
