This led to the formation of a discussion group that met at science fiction and comics conventions.

Furries are normally pretty harmless, so don't throw rocks at them.

You are opening a huge can of worms asking this question.

Furries, in general, are people who feel some sort of attachment to an animal/animals.

They range from people who just really like animals to people who feel a spiritual connection to them.

There are those who like to dress up like animals, draw pictures of animals, give human characteristics to animals, feel that deep down they ARE an animal, etc.

The reason this question is so difficult to answer is because the furry spectrum is great. I suggest doing lots Googling to get an idea. Be careful, furry artwork can be a bit umm.. much.

I'm a furry too, and in response to BMF, that's not entirely correct. Yes, all of those things you mentioned are there in the community, but that doesn't mean you have to be those to be a furry. To be one is to just say that you are. You can be a furry without a suit (85 - 90% of the population doesn't have a fursuit), you don't have to go to conventions, and you don't even need to have a fursona! You can be a furry just by wanting to be, and everything else is up to you on terms of what you like or not. Hope this helps. :3
