What are frats on the guitar?

Well first off they're called frets! And second they are these little semi-circle things that are made of metal and are attached to the guitar. They are under the strings and between most of the odd frets are little cream colored dots. Depending on which fret you press down behind it makes a different sound. The only even fret that has dots between it is the 12th fret and it has 2 dots. They are a certain # counting down from 1 starting at the top of the guitar. Hope that answers your question!
