What are good gifts to give a girlfriend on her birthday?

Answer:
I would like to suggest that despite all the things you can buy off the shelf, there really isn't anything that speaks more sincerity and love that a personal DIY-ed (Do-It-Yourself) present. This can be in the form of composing a sweet personal poem for your loved one, or carving out her name with scented candles.

Let your creative juices flow, anyone can buy anything off the shelf, but to really move your girlfriend, show her that she's worth more than just picking an item off the shelf. Many people says it's the effort that counts, well, show her how much effort you'll be putting in through making her a present. A trip down to IKEA would fill your mind with ideas on what kind of DIY presents you can make for your girlfriend.

A few ideas : Photo collage, poem, carved scented candles, your own love storybook if you have the time.

Everybody has different likes and dislikes..
A birthday is a time of year celebrating aging, right? Buying products and fantastic items are a great way to make someone happy, I agree but ever thought about how you give it to them?
For example.. a ticket to her favorite tv talk show such as rove live.. buy a funky patterned box with a lid, now for the fun part.... buy something like skittles candies, gumballs or anything else of your choice, and place the ticket on the bottom of the box and fill the whole box with your choice of lollies.
This way the present is fun and bright but also thoughtful in a sense that it's not a typical gift but a present that gives your friend something to look forward too after her birthday and it's something that has more beneficial experiences like going out, meeting new people, seeing something she likes up close. beats a store bought gift item any day.

Depends what she's into; get her something that she will remember you for, something considerate that shows that you've really thought what to get her...

Like gold jewelry! Diamonds.
Well, for the first response it was a good idea but I like the second one better! Your girlfriend might not like TV talk shows! Does she have a favorite band? If she has a favorite band you could get her two tickets to her favorite band: one for you and one for her that way she can spend her night with her favorite band and with that special someone! But your probably wondering...what if shes not allowed to go out? or what if shes not old enough to go to a concert? ...well if that is the case... buy her a heart shaped necklace and a box of chocolates with flowers! you should also include a sweet card! i know it can be embarrassing but if you cant afford it.. you can make her something. i know it seems dorky but its from the heart and that's the best present ever! get some supplies from around the house and make her a card from those supplies!
What does she like? Art? Computers? Books? Music? Find out. That should help you. If you're still stuck, ask her friends what she'd like. And a homemade card is a great idea. Who doesn't prefer homemade cards? It shows a lot more feeling than just buying a card and sticking it on your present. If you're still stuck, just get her chocolate, that's always a sure hit.

Find a gift that always keeps giving. I bought my wife a panama hat from a factory when l was down in Ecuador. They design sexy panama hats that was not able to find on the internet.
