You should check that he's very patient, not violent, a good guy.

You need to go father than that, though.

Choose a man who:

shares the same values as you and has the same priorities.
treats you with respect.
has a good job history - This might seem cold, but it is important or you might find yourself supporting him.
encourages you as an individual
is not selfish
etc.

Do not base your selection on emotion alone. Marriage is meant to be for life, so take the selection of a husband seriously...and use your brain!
