guided media is the transmission medium in which data/signal is guided by the cable or wire so used to a specific path. there are 4 types of guided media
--> open wire
-->twisted pair
--> co-axial cable
-->optical fibre

guide media is that where we use any path for communcation like cables(coaxial,fibre optic,twisted pair)etc. unguided media is also called wireless where not any phyisical path is used for transmission.

Guided Media
Unguided Media
1.
The signal energy propagates within the guided media .i.e. through wires.
The signal energy propagates through air.
2.
It is mainly suited for point to point line configurations.
It is mainly used for broadcasting purpose.
3.
The signal propagates in the form of voltage, current or photons.
The signal propagates in the form of electromagnetic waves.
4.
Examples of guided media are:-
=>Twisted Pair Cable
=>Co-axial Cable
=>Optical Fiber Cable
Examples are:-
=>Microwave or Radio Links
=>Infrared
unguided signal can travel through no. of ways.
sky propagation
ground propagation
line of sight.
in ground propagation, radio waves travle through the lowest portion of the from the atmosphere ,hugging the earth. these low-frequesncy signals emanate in all directions from the transmitting antana and follow the curvature of planet. distance depends on the amounts of power in the signal: the greater the power, the greater the distance.
in sky propagation,higher-frequency radio waves radiate into the ionosphere(the layer of where particular exits as ions) wher they are reflacted back to earth.this types if transmission allows for greater distances with lower output power.
in the line-of-sight propagation, very high-frequency signals are transmitted in straight lines directly from antenna to antenna. Antenna must be directional, facing each other,and either tall enough or close enough not to be affected by the curvature of the earth. line-of-sight propagation in tricky radion transmission cannot be completely focused.
In a guided medium signal passes through a physical pathway(s),while in an unguided medium signal passes through a vacuum,it is independent of a physical pathway.
Guided Media : Guided Transmission Media uses a "cabling" system that guides the data signals along a specific path. The data signals are bound by the "cabling" system. Guided Media is also known as Bound Media Unguided Transmission Media consists of a means for the data signals to travel but nothing to guide them along a specific path. In a guided medium signal passes through a physical pathway(s),while in an unguided medium signal passes through a vacuum, it is independent of a physical pathway.
Media that is unguided has no connections, wires, or joined devices. This includes infrared, micro, radio, and even satellite waves.
Technically, any missile (used in the old sense of the word, meaning any thrown object) is unguided. In modern usage, an unguided missile is called a rocket. Ballistic missiles are unguided for most of their journey, so they can be considered unguided missiles for that part.
Drilling centre and guided drilling get your hole in precisely the correct place.
The first Automatic guided vehicle was brought to market in the 1950s, by Barrett Electronics of Northbrook, Illinois.
advantages of guide transmission media
1 guided, 2 unguided
guided media is that media which use some physical path like coaxial cable fiber optics etc

Transmission media is a device which is used to transfer the data between one computer to another computer.There are two types of Transmission media: 1. Guided Media 2. Unguided Media

The unguided media is the wireless media. It simply transports electromagnetic waves without using any physical conductor. Signals are normally broadcast through the air and thus are available to any one who has the device capable of receiving them. Unguided signals can be travelled from source to the destination in several ways. These ways include ground propagation, sky propagation and line of sight propagation.
Unguided media,unsheilded twisted pair,sheilded twisted pair secondly guided media i.e coaxial cable,ehernet,thikwire,thin wire etc
Media that is unguided has no connections, wires, or joined devices. This includes infrared, micro, radio, and even satellite waves.
There is no physical connection between two system in CASE OF UNGUIDED MEDIA
A guided interview is when u know the questions that is going to be answered and a unguided interview is when u dont know whats expected or whats going ti be asked.
