What are inequities in algebra?

Answer:
An inequality (or an inequity) is when an equation has either of the symbols < or > in place of the equals sign.

< indicates that the value to the left of it is less than the value to the right of it.
> indicates that the value to the left of it is greater than the value to the right of it.

Two other signs are also used: ≤ and ≥
≤ indicates that the value to the left of it is "less than or equal to" the value to the right of it.
≥ indicates that the value to the left of it is "greater than or equal to" the value to the right of it.
