The majority of Catholic brothers are teachers for their religious order. Some are the religious community's handymen, some are cooks. Some work in hospital ministry, or other needed areas. It is perhaps easiest to think of brothers as the male equivalent of nuns - whatever you have seen nuns doing in their service, that is what brothers would be doing, too.
