What are medicines for gastritis?

Answer:

There are many. Most try to decrease stomach acid. Some are calledd H2 blockers since they block a type of histamine, one example of this is Zantac. Others are PPI or proton pump inhibitors, such as Nexium. Then there are antacids like Tums. All of these can work, but sometimes there is an infection associated with gastritis. Your doctor can diagnose this and if you have it you will also need antibiotics. There is another type of drug that coats your stomach. This is call Carafate.

Gastritis can be caused or made worse by meds like ibuprofen and aspirin. Also, alcohol and caffeine. So avoid these when you have it.
