Motif is a recurring element in any design. It comprises of colors, shapes, lines etc. There are 4 basic styles of motifs- Natural (These are realistic motifs duplicating things from nature or man made objects.), Stylized (Artistic interpretation of natural forms), Geometric (using geometrical elements like lines, squares, circles etc.) and Abstract (These may or may not resemble any natural and man made objects).
Eg. of Natural Motifs- flowers and foliage as grown in gardens, fruits hanging on trees, animals in forest, conversational designs. Another example could be digital printing of photographs on t-shirts etc.
