The southern southeastern region of Ohio is economically similar to West Virginia as mining is the dominant industry. Natural resources are also big here (i.e., lumber, oil, etc.). West Virginia is also big on mining and natural resources. This region is called the Appalachian Plateau. It is also very geographically similar to W.V. in that it is very hilly.
The only resources found are soil. Cotton can be produced though from a special certain soil found only in some parts of the plateau. Most of it is too dry for farming.
