What are nephrons?

[Edit]

Nephrons are the smallest functional units of the kidneys. They are located in the adrenal cortex which is considered the urine manufacturing facility. The adrenal medulla is the urine collecting facility. The urine is collected in the renal pelvis and then let out past a sphincter into the ureters leading to the bladder where it is stored until you void your bladder. Also called micturition, which is the medical term for urination. The urine leaves your body through your urethra.
