Your doctor should check your cholesterol levels as part of the blood testing during your annual physical. He or she can tell you your HDL, LDL and triglycerides readings and explain their significance as well as the desirable numbers. Proper diet, exercise and/or medication can keep you in the proper area for optimum health.
