Answer
Well, Don Bradman is the best batsman ever in the history of Cricket. After him, Sachin Tendulkar is arguably the best batsman. Another contender for this is Brian Lara. Lately, Ricky Ponting has been in tremendous form and is fast catching up with Sachin and Brian in statistics.
Sir Donald Bradman
The opinion is universal, the best cricket batsman is Sir Donald Bradman of Australia with a test average of 99.94. Though it is a matter of arguement that he batted in an era where only 2 others teams were present and most of the mateches that he played was against England bowling attack. It has been estimated had he batted in this era, he would have been averaging 65 which is still much higher than what batsmen had achieve today. There is another way to describe great batsmanship other than average is impact a particular batsman had on the match and entertainment value. In this regard some consider Sir Vivian Richard of West Indies as best batsman ever. In the modern time Brian Lara had come close being the second best batsman if not the best.
