Organic food is the certified food that is monitored by the officials while being grown in organic farms, manufactured, produced or packaged without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in compliance with certain standards.

• Organic involves a great variety of foods: milk, meat, poultry, jam, peanut butter, coffee, baked beans, pizzas, whole grains, eggs, drinks, vegetables and fruits. Actually there is an organic version of almost every food you can think of.

• Organic meat, poultry and dairy producers are not allowed to use growth hormones or antibiotics.

• They are labelled to avoid confusion as they look the same as conventional produce.

• As an example, an average apple has about 30-35 pesticides even after being washed, this is greatly reduced in organic produce.

• Organic food is reported to be approximately 50% higher in nutrients, vitamins and minerals than normal produce.

• Organically grown foods do not always look as colorful and well presented as conventional produce.

• You don't have to buy everything organic, just switching to organic in a few items will make a hell a lot of difference.

What are pros for organic food?

This is pros however it is mainly a comparison for the organic and non-organic i hope it helps 1. Organic food is the best type of food for many reasons. The food does not have as many pesticides as non-organic food this means that it is less harmful for humans, plants and animals. Also two of the pesticides that are used are natural pesticides. Organic food tastes much better than non-organic foods. Organic foods use pesticides on only one crop. However Non-organic foods use pesticides on all of their crops. Organic foods are looked after much better as they have to be grown in a certain way. Also more people are employed to look after the crops and animals. The organic crops are assessed to see if they are okay to be organic; however the non-organic crops are not and are just sold without checking. Organic food is 'natural' this is because it does not include as many chemicals or pesticides.

What are the standards for organic foods?

The USDA standards are: Seeds from plants that were grown organically must be used unless they are not available. Seeds may not be GMO seeds. No synthetic fertilizers or pesticides can be used, except in certain situations. In order to meet those standards, organic growers build up the soil using compost and have a variety of ways to control pests,

What is the difference between modifided food and organic food?

If your question is asking what the difference between genetically modified food and organic food is, the two have nothing in common except that they both grow in the ground.Genetically modified food seeds have been genetically altered in a lab and usually include a gene or genes from a different species than the seed itself. For example, corn seeds may be genetically altered with bacteria, virus, animal or human genes, which are forced inside the corn seeds. Often, the purpose of the genetic modification is to make the crop more tolerant to chemical herbicides and/or pesticides. GMO seeds are patented and cannot be saved from year to year. No long-term studies have been done in order to determine the effects of consuming GMO foods. On the other hand, organic food usually begins with seeds of varieties that have been grown and their seeds saved for many years, although hybrid varieties, which are a cross between two varieties of the same species, may also be used. Organically grown foods cannot contain GMOs. They have no modifications and are truly natural. The food grown organically is completely safe and some studies show that organic foods are more nutritious than non-organically grown foods.
