What are rare dates for US silver dollars?

Answer:
Silver dollars were struck from 1794 to 1935 so that's a very broad question. There are a number of dates that are common in worn condition but scarce in higher grades as well so a full accounting can be very complex. Please see the Related Links for specific prices.

Among the more recent types:

Peace Dollars:
1921, 1928, 1934-S

Morgan Dollars:
1879-CC, 1880-CC, 1881-CC, 1889-CC, 1893, 1893-O, 1893-CC, 1894, 1895 (extremely rare), and 1903-O

Other types:
> "1804" dollars are considered to be the king of American coins. 1804 is in quotes because the coins were actually made in the 1830s but are still U.S. Mint issues. Auction prices have been as high as $7 million.

> Any other dates from 1794 to 1803 are very scarce as well, but with much lower values - $1100 to $1.2 million depending on date and condition.

> 1836-1839 "Gobrecht" design Liberty Seated dollars

> 1851, 1852, 1870-S Liberty Seated dollars
