Refined carbs are found in pasta, breads, sugary sweets, colas, Won Tons, fruit juices.

Better carbs are in fruits, vegetables, low fat cereals; if Pasta must be consumed, choose whole wheat pasta--which still has carbs, but at least they are better for the body than refined carbs--white flour pasta.

Even table sugar is a refined carb--as well as a sugar. It's getting more difficult to eat healthy unless one shops only in whole foods stores, (Your local health food store)

Over-consumption of refined processed carbohydrate foods are a major cause of weight gain, obesity, insulin resistance, Heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 Diabetes, and many other diet related diseases and conditions. These are not natural carbohydrates such as unprocessed vegetables and unprocessed fruits.

For optimum health, or weight loss, or weight maintenance, avoid or strictly limit refined processed carbohydrates (apart from an occasional treat). For optimum health, or weight loss, or weight maintenance, replace those foods with more of the co-called 'fat burning' foods' and make good use of the use the thermic effect of food.

At the bottom of this answer, you will find a page link to free lists of fat burning foods, and more detailed information about the thermic effect of burning foods.

Although this is not a complete list, refined processed carbohydrates are such things as:

  • all sugars of all types
  • all products containing sugar or any form of sugar, such as dextrose, etc.
  • foods containing corn syrup
  • sodas
  • soft frinks
  • sugary drinks
  • cordials
  • breads
  • rolls
  • wraps
  • buns
  • cookies
  • pasta
  • biscuits
  • ice cream
  • tacos
  • nibbles/savory snacks
  • corn chips
  • popcorn
  • pasta
  • Pizza
  • pastry
  • pastries
  • pasty/pastie
  • pies
  • dumplings
  • batter
  • cakes
  • most desserts
  • puddings
  • candy/toffee/sweets
  • chocolate
  • cereals
  • store bought fries/chips that have added starch or any sugars such as dextrose
  • store bought cooked meats/cold cuts (usually have added sugars, additives or breadcrumbs or they are honey roasted, or marinated, etc.
  • sausages/hot dog frankfurters (they contain carbohydrate fillers, additives, and sugars) even without the bun
  • marinates usually have added sugars or starches, avoid such marinated meats or fish (whether barbequed or cooked by some other method), such as pulled pork, chicken wings, southern fried chicken, etc.
  • Chinese dishes are usually cooked with cornflour to slightly thicken (as well as added MSG)
  • sweet and sour dishes
  • most take-out (take-away) food will contain some sort of thickener or starch, such as wheat or cornflour
  • chicken, meat, or fish if covered in batter, or breadcrumbs, or dusted with flour
  • supermarket ready made meals (read the ingredients label)
  • jams
  • jelly
  • sugar sweetened jello

Again, for the sake of your health, or for weight loss or weight maintenance, restrict refined processed carbohydrates (apart from an occasional treat) and replace those foods with more of the nutritious fat burning' foods and natural carbohydrates such as unprocessed vegetables and fruit.
